# Set thumbnail

The Custom Video Thumbnail feature gives you full control over the first impression your videos make, whether they are imported from social feeds or uploaded directly. This eliminates the issue of displaying blurry, awkward, or low-quality auto-generated frames that often occur by default. By selecting a polished cover image—either by uploading a custom design or selecting the perfect frame—you ensure a cohesive brand aesthetic and significantly boost click-through rates (CTR) before the video even begins.

### How to select thumbnail

To select thumbnail for video, you can either pick frame from video or upload an image

#### **Pick frame from video**

{% embed url="<https://app.arcade.software/share/d9YDOaCsxicD1yUYCEwz>" %}

1. Open Video library, choose any video that you want to select thumbnail
2. Click **Set thumbnail** >> **Pick frame from video** to select a frame from your footage
3. Browse the video timeline and choose a frame
4. Click **Save** to apply the new thumbnail

#### **Upload thumbnail**

{% embed url="<https://app.arcade.software/share/RQ7VSnNQA1te1XQqvGyp>" %}

1. Open Video library, choose any video that you want to select thumbnail
2. Click **Set thumbnail** >> **Upload thumbnail** to upload a designated thumbnail image from your device

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://shopvid.gitbook.io/shopvid-shoppable-video-reels/video-library/set-thumbnail.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
